Our retail store, The Italian Store in Calgary is recalling frozen ground veal sold in the store over possible E.coli contamination.

The veal in question was sold in small frozen packages between December 23, 2019 and January 13, 2020 and has the UPC code starting with 0 200904.

To be safe please toss out product or return to the store for a full refund.

Our Quality Control Team will be in close contact with our supply chain to review all safety protocols.

In the meantime, as always, remember to cook your ground meat all the way through to alleviate safety concerns!!

About San Giuliano – Pride of Sardinia

The origins of Domenico Manca S.p.A. date back to the early 1900’s when the Manca family owned and operated a small olive oil mill within the ancient walled town of Alghero. The olive oil was sold at the market and within the Italian mainland.

In 1975 the founders grandson, Domenico took on the family business and by the mid 80’s they added other products to their line up.

It is well known that the oldest and most traditional olive oil producers have obtained excellent oil from a great range of olive types and varieties. As a result and since 1992, San Giuliano has received more than 260 awards, including the recent addition of three gold and one silver award at the New York International Olive Oil competition. They have won more awards than any other company producing olive oil.

City of Calgary Launches #BuyLocalYYC Campaign

The City of Calgary has launched a new #BuyLocalYYC campaign to get more dollars flowing into local businesses and support Calgary’s economic recovery.

Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi kicked off the three-month campaign in Kensington on Monday by encouraging people to buy their holiday gifts from local business, instead of from online retailers.

San Pellegrino Launches IED Collaboration Project

The world’s biggest names in sparkling mineral water, San Pellegrino is celebrating their 120th anniversary this year.

As the celebrations for San Pellegrino’s 120 Year Anniversary continue all around the world, they have announced a unique collaboration with Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) for San Pellegrino’s 120th Anniversary.

A a select group of talented students from the prestigious design school, have re-imagined San Pellegrino into a series of illustrations that take you on a journey through the 120 year-old story of the brand. For this digital exhibition, the students were asked to prepare a set of three artworks, to be seen in a continuous row on San Pellegrino’s Instagram wall, with each set playing out a different element of the brand’s story. The illustrations run across four broad themes: Iconic Imagery, Food Experiences, Core Values, History & Heritage.

Launching on October 7th, this project will run throughout October with special creations being revealed each day on the San Pellegrino Instagram Account.

Santa Lucia Bocconcini Pearls

Santa Lucia Bocconcini Pearls are a semi-soft Italian white cheese made with pasteurized cow’s milk. This cheese has a milk fat of 20% and a moisture content of 52%.

The bocconcini is stretched and then shaped into round pieces in different sizes, then packed in water. This product has a shelf life of 45 days. Keep refrigerated.
